Abstract

The present status of immunoassays for plant growth regulators has been reviewed by WEILER (1984). A review on plant cell expansion has been published by TAIZ (1984), and SZE (1985) discussed proton translocating ATPases. Both articles in- clude many aspects of the action of auxins. More directly related to “auxinology”are reviews on bound auxins (COHEN and BANDURSKI 1982), on the regulation of plant cell growth (HANSON and TREWAVAS 1982), on the significance of peroxidases for growth and development (GASPAR et al. 1985), and on dose-response relation- ship of auxins (NISSEN 1985). SCOTT (1984) edited the second volume on Hormonal Regulation of Development of the Encyclopedia of Plant Physiology. This volume comprises functional aspects of plant hormones. A valuable review on extraction, purification, and assaying methods for auxins has been presented by MORGAN and DURHAM (1983).
