Zusammenfassung
Die 1956 von LoGrippo [1] beschriebene Kaltsterilisation von Humanplasma mit β-Propiolacton (βPL) und UV-Bestrahlung verdankt ihre Effektivität der Kombination einer chemischen mit einer photochemischen Sterilisation. Es muß betont werden, daß die Kaltsterilisation nur in dieser genannten Kombination hochwirksam ist. Die einzelnen Schritte für sich genommen sind für die Sterilisation der Plasmaproteine unter schonenden Bedingungen nicht wirksam genug. Dies ist in Studien von Murray und Barker gezeigt worden [2, 3]. Leider wurden aus den damals enttäuschenden Ergebnissen falsche Schlußfolgerungen gezogen, so daß die Untersuchungen aufgegeben wurden, bevor die βPL-/UV-Kombination getestet wurde.
