Zusammenfassung

Mit Pubertät bezeichnet man den Lebensabschnitt, in dem sich das Kind zum Erwachsenen entwickelt. Er ist charakterisiert durch eingreifende hormonelle Veränderungen, die zur Ausprägung der sekundären Geschlechtsmerkmale bis hin zur vollständigen sexuellen Reife (Fertilität) führen. Diese Phase läßt sich auch einteilen in den Abschnitt der frühen Adoleszenz, der mit der ersten Menstruation beginnt und mit der ersten Ovulation endet, und den Abschnitt der späten Adoleszenz, der mit der ersten Ovulation beginnt und mit der Reife der Frau endet.
