Zusammenfassung
Tumormarker sind Substanzen, welche von einer Tumorzelle selbst produziert oder durch das maligne Geschehen induziert werden. Diese Marker können entweder in der Tumorzelle selbst, in Körperflüssigkeiten oder frei zirkulierend im peripheren Blut nachgewiesen werden. In der Regel steht ihre Bildung und Freisetzung in direkter Beziehung zur Tumormasse bzw. Dynamik des malignen Prozesses. Ein idealer Tumormarker sollte bei gesunden Personen nie nachweisbar sein. Leider werden die meisten bisher bekannten Marker auch in nicht malignen, normalen oder entzündlich veränderten Geweben gebildet bzw. induziert.
