Abstract
Primary hepatic cancer (PHC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies on the east and south coasts of China. Extensive epidemiological surveys of PHC in these areas indicate that the incidence of PHC is closely correlated with HBV infection, aflatoxin contamination, and other putative carcinogenic factors in the drinking water. However, direct evidence is still lacking as to which of these factors operate in hepatocarcinogenesis and how they operate. Therefore, the identification and isolation of oncogenes in PHC will help us to elucidate the target genes which carcinogens may attack and the mechanism of carcinogenesis.
