Abstract
It is impossible to fit the calcifications of fibroadenoma into the framework of this book in a way that would satisfy both didactic and pathogenetic demands. As fibroadenoma arises from the connective tissue of the lobule, it should, from a pathogenetic standpoint, be included in a discussion of calcifications of lobular origin (Sect. 4.2). Yet as fibroadenoma contains ducts or ductlike spaces (canaliculi), it would be equally reasonable to place it in a discussion of calcifications of intraductal origin (Sect. 4.3). The only solution is to devote a separate chapter to the calcifications of this Janus-faced tumor.
