Abstract
Metal ions are required for virtually all biological processes in which nucleic acids are engaged and play an essential role in their structural and dynamic properties. Nevertheless the presence of the “wrong” metal ions, or even the essential ones in the “wroog” concentration may cause harmful biological effects (toxic, mutagenic, carcinogenic).
