Abstract

A number of copper proteins have been investigated using the EXAFS and XANES techniques. Some of this work is reviewed here to demonstrate the contribution of these techniques in specific structure determination. I also report here some of the recent advances in theoretical calculations for inter- and intra-ligand multiple scattering effects present in the EXAFS and XANES region. These developments offer an exciting possibility of investigating accurately the sterochemical details around a metal site of a protein in solution.
