The primary structure of invertebrate globins (myoglobins and haemoglobins) is only available for a limited number of species.All the sequenced polypeptides belong to the low Mr globin chain types having a Mr of about 16 000 and binding one haem group. Their sequence alignment shows a definite relationship with their vertebrate counterparts (1 , 2).
