Oocyte and Embryo Donation in Women with Absent Ovarian Function

  • Conference paper
Future Aspects in Human In Vitro Fertilization

Abstract

Oocyte and embryo donation are relatively recent developments in the rapidly expanding field of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET). Pregnancies to term have been described using the techniques of oocyte and embryo donation following fertilisation both in vitro (Lütjen et al. 1984a, b; 1985a, b; 1986) and in vivo (Bustillo et al. 1984; Buster 1985). The former procedure is now practised in numerous IVF laboratories around the world with many programmes reporting successful donor pregnancies in both patients with normal ovarian steroid production and in those with a complete absence of ovarian function.
