Abstract
The family of orientation is considered to be of special importance insofar as it is generally the “environment” per se of a person for a relatively long time. It should not be forgotten, however, that the family of orientation is an intricate complex of conditions, where not only the family and its environment form the child, but the child itself also exerts an influence. In this sense, it will presumably remain impossible to comprehend completely by empirical means the process of growing up, particularly the reciprocal relationship between parents and child, whether by retrospective investigations or participant observation.
