Zusammenfassung

Bei der Behandlung von Patienten mit Intubation und Beatmung ist es zu einer etablierten Routine geworden, Spontanatmung (spontane Ventilation, SV) in Kombination mit maschineller Ventilation (MV) oder mit einem kontinuierlich positiven Atemwegsdruck (“continuous positive airway pressure” CPAP) zu verwenden. Maschinelle Ventilation in Verbindung mit Spontanatmung wird auch als intermittierende maschinelle oder mandatorische Ventilation (“intermittent mandatory Ventilation”, IMV) bezeichnet.
