Abstract

Flow patterns in heart disease are changed in one or more respects compared to normal flow: characteristics of the normal flow are that it occurs at the right place at the right time with normal velocities (right in space, right in time, right in velocity). Pathological flow patterns in heart disease may exhibit pathological characteristics, such as turbulence and vortex formation, or they may occur at the wrong time or at the wrong location.
