Abstract

Based on the evolution of different graphics packages and a desire to get started, working groups and formal committees have been working in the field of computer graphics standardization since about 1975. Major efforts were undertaken in the United States, in Germany, in the United Kingdom, and at an international level in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
