Abstract

Numerous experiments in animals have been performed to develop an optimal scheme for repairing minor articular defects. The defects in question are those encountered mostly in cases of osteochondritis dissecans of the knee joint, but the cartilage defects are also seen as a result of osteonecrosis and osteoarthritis in elderly people. As a rule, for surgical repair of these foci, it is possible to use the available cartilage present as a completely or partially loose body.
