Abstract

In a number of patients treatment was not limited to surgical resection, but was supplemented by preoperative or postoperative radiotherapy, cytostatic therapy, or their combination. Exploratory thoracotomies likewise were followed by the use of one or both alternative modalities. In some cases the surgical resection of metastatic cancers served an adjunctive goal.
