Abstract

There is a vast body of literature dealing with the surgical treatment of carcinoma of the lung. Varying opinions have been expressed on a range of specific problems relating to diagnosis and patient selection, and there has been even greater diversity in the results that have been reported. Evaluation is made especially difficult by the fact that almost all studies to date have been retrospective and therefore omit certain information that is pertinent to the characterization of patient groups [178].
