Scintigraphy of Lymphokinetics and Lymphatic Neoplasia

  • Conference paper
Nuclear Medicine in Clinical Oncology

Abstract

Lymph node (LN) concentration of radioactive colloidal gold was first detected some decades ago [40, 66, 70]. Clinical applications were promoted by zum Winkel [72–74]. The original concepts to scan (metastatic) LN, control the radiation field, and stage malignant lymphonodular diseases [10, 15, 24, 26, 32, 36, 38, 45, 46, 52, 59, 67, 71 – 74] were partly replaced [2, 23, 36, 38, 54–56]. The change in indications was induced by the development of new radiopharmaceuticals, high-resolution gamma cameras, and computers, which paved the way for visualizing lymphokinetics, and thus improving the detection of lymphatic malignancies.
