Abstract
Recurrent stenosis following successful PTCA remains the most serious barrier to wider application of this technique. Solution of the problem is in its infancy. A reliable means of preventing recurrence will probably also increase our understanding of the atherosclerotic process. If recurrent stenosis can be prevented, it may be possible to slow down the progression of atherosclerosis by the same interventions.
