Abstract

Despite modern techniques of internal fixation, posttraumatic deformities about the hip are still not uncommon. They confirm the clinical observation that more than a few fractures of the proximal femur are difficult to manage and require special surgical experience and expertise, and that defects which seem trivial initially often progress to serious complications due to the peculiar stresses that act on the skeletal system in the region of the hip.
