Abstract
It is evident from the review of the literature on the structure of stDNAs that they have different nucleotide sequences and occur in different amounts in the genome. There are both light AT-rich, and heavy GC-rich satellites. However, despite species specificity, stDNAs seem to have one common feature — the capability to participate in the formation of constitutive heterochromatin.
