Current Concepts of Bone Fragility

Abstract

An excellent description of the changes occurring in human compact bone due to age was presented by Amprino and Bairati in 1936. According to these authors, after 50 years of age bone destruction is no longer sufficiently compensated by bone formation and, therefore, rarefaction develops.
