Abstract
Exceptional progress in the understanding of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) during the past decade is due to improved methods for the characterization of procollagens and collagen alpha chains, and the remarkable progress achieved in the molecular biology of collagen genes (Prockop and Vivirikko, 1984). These found ready application in the study of OI and other heritable disorders of connective itssue.
