Abstract
It is well known that weakness upon exercise is the basic complaint of patients suffering from myasthenia gravis. In the beginning of the disease there is no weakness at all in the morning, after a night’s rest, but the patients notice a decrease in muscular strength during activities of various kinds. It depends on the affection of the muscles or groups of muscles which these activities — ranging from reading, speaking, and similar activities to walking or all kinds of manual work (e.g., typing or pressing a lever in industrial work) — require. Periods of rest restore strength at least partially, and weakness is greatest in the evening.
