Single and Double Stimuli SEP Examinations in Spinal Tumors and in Multiple Sclerosis

  • Conference paper

Summary

In order to improve the prospect of differential diagnosis between multiple sclerosis and spinal tumor cases using tibial nerve SEP, responses to single and double stimuli were studied in up to 117 patients. No significant differences between MS and tumor groups were found for the single stimulus responses. However, with the double stimuli definite MS cases were found to have a significantly increased relative refractory time, whereas in 6 out of 8 tumor cases the absolute refractory time was abnormal.
