Evoked Potential Monitoring During Interventional Neuroradiology: Experimental Aspects of Special Catheter Techniques

  • Conference paper
Spinal Cord Monitoring

Summary

The use of evoked potential monitoring, both brain-stem acoustic evoked potentials and somatosensory evoked potentials, is reviewed considering our previous experiences and taking into consideration the experiences of other authors. In illustrative cases monitoring is described during occluding and recanalizing techniques of interventional neuroradiology as well as during intraarterial application of pharmacological agents. In discussing the results it is stressed that intraoperative monitoring does not only allow one to supervise interventional neuroradiological procedures but also provides new insights into hemodynamic mechanisms.
