Abstract

The study of structure-activity relationships in the series of truxillic acid (1,3-di-phenylcyclobutane-2,4-dicarboxylic acid) derivatives prompted the evaluation of the optimal structures of the cationic centers and of the interonium part of the molecules. The derivatives of 03b1-truxillic acid basic esters and amides with n = 3 and 4 and with bis-N-methyl (or ethyl)piperidinium, bis-N-methyl (or ethyl)pyr-rolidinium, bis-N-methyldiethylammonium or bistriethylammonium groups seemed most interesting for neuromuscular blocking drug design (see Tables 2, 3, 7, 8 in Chap. 13).
