Zusammenfassung
Seit 1936 wird Thiopental, seit 1957 Methohexital in steigendem Maße zur Narkoseeinleitung verwendet. Jedoch erst in den letzten 15 Jahren ist es durch die verbesserten Untersuchungsmethoden gelungen, mit großer Genauigkeit Barbituratspiegel zu bestimmen und damit die Pharmakokinetik dieser Substanzen zu erhellen. Durch die Möglichkeit einer exakten Messung von Plasmabarbituratspiegeln auch in kleinen Proben und durch die Anwendung alternativer Barbituratapplikationen v. a. bei Kindern ist das Interesse an der Pharmakokinetik dieser Substanzen neu geweckt worden, wie zahlreiche Arbeiten besonders der letzten Jahre beweisen [8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16].
