Summary
The formal analysis of a nonlinear network using Volterra series representation of the signals yields a system of three linear equations which represent the first-, second- and third-order subsystems. It is shown that the linear subsystem is given by the linear part of the network and the input current source, whereas the second and the third order subsystems are discribed by the linear network and distortion current sources. Thus the thesis of Feldtkeller and Wolman, originally proposed for a restive network, is also valid for quasiliear networks with memory. A single stage amplifier in commom emitter configuration is simulated with networkanalysisprogram SPICE and the influence of the different nonlinear sources on the nonlinear distortion of the amplifier is shown.
