Zusammenfassung

Die psychiatrische Diagnostik vermengt syndromale und ätiologische Aspekte; unglücklich ist dabei, daß die ätiologischen Diagnosen oft nicht mehr als Vermutungen sind und die meisten Syndrome ohnehin mehrfaktoriell bedingt sind. Neuerdings macht die diagnostische Klassifikation Fortschritte in Richtung einer mehr deskriptiven Gruppierung unter Verzicht auf Diagnosen wie „symptomatisch, organisch, endogen, neurotisch, reaktiv“ usw. Konservativ wird aber immer noch an kategorialen diagnostischen Klassen festgehalten. Dies gilt sowohl für die Unterscheidung innerhalb der Angsterkrankungen („generalized anxiety“, Panikattacken) und Phobien (Agoraphobie, einfache Phobien, soziale Phobien) als auch zu den Depressionen.
