Zusammenfassung

Die Doppler-Echokardiographie eignet sich zur Angabe sowohl der Flußrichtung als auch der Blutflußgeschwindigkeit. Die Angabe der Flußrichtung — nach dem Schallkopf zu oder vom Schallkopf weg — eignet sich zur Diagnose von Klappeninsuffizienzen und Shuntvolumen des Herzens. In Abwesenheit einer Obstruktion kann die Blutflußgeschwindigkeit zusammen mit der Querschnittsfläche benutzt werden, um das Flußvolumen oder Herzminutenvolumen zu bestimmen. Ist eine Obstruktion vorhanden, kann der Anstieg der Blutflußgeschwindigkeit benutzt werden, um den Druckgradienten zu bestimmen.
