Zusammenfassung

Der Umgang mit Schmerzsyndromen der vorderen Thoraxwand ist erfahrungsgemäß schwierig. Der funktionelle Stellenwert der sternokostalen und interkostalen Gelenkverbindungen sowie ihrer Störungsgefahrdung sind im Einzelfall schwer zu beurteilen. Als Ursache für die Schwierigkeit kann die anatomische Verzahnung von Muskulatur, Rippen und Sternum gelten. Zug- und Druckkräfte unterschiedlicher Verlaufsrichtungen wechseln sich innerhalb der vorderen Thoraxwand bei Körperbewegungen ab.
