Zusammenfassung
Bei Cholestase ist der Gallefluß in den Darm be- oder verhindert. Die Pathogenese kann auf einer Funktionsstörung der galleproduzierenden Zellen (intrahepatische Cholestase) oder auf einer mechanischen Blokkade im Kanalsystem außerhalb der Leber (extrahepatische Cholestase) beruhen [5]. Immer liegt ein globales Versagen der Gallensekretion vor [24]. Unter morphologischen Gesichtspunkten handelt es sich um eine Ansammlung von Galle in Leberzellen und Gallenwegen. Der Kliniker versteht darunter die Retention sämtlicher Gallebestandteile im Blut. Ikterus bedeutet sensu strictu dagegen nur die gesteigerte Ablagerung von Bilirubin in Haut, Skleren und Schleimhäuten.
