Abstract
Multicriteria decision-making methods (MCDM) have been among the first used for interactive computer-assisted decision-making. They support creativity by allowing multiple views of a problem. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation criteria can be used in conjunction and the criterion values can either be computed from stored information about the decision alternatives, or entered spontaneously by the decision-maker. Finally, since MCDM methods naturally handle goal conflicts, they are prime candidates for extensions to situations where decisions are made by groups rather than individuals.
