According to Sect. 3 of the recently enacted Act on Health and Medical Care (Hälso- och Sjukvårdslag 1982: 783) every county is to offer good health and medical care to those who are resident within the county. The statue requires, in particular that the care shall be of good quality and satisfy the patient’s need for confidence in the treatment, be easily accessible, be based on respect for the independent decisions and privacy of the patient, and promote good relations between the patient and the personnel engaged in health and medical care.
