Abstract
The term “inherited metabolic diseases” designates a group of inherited diseases where a specific enzymatic deficit has been identified. However, though numerous data in this field have accumulated in recent years (2), there remains an even larger number of diseases in this group that also share genetic transmission, progressive symptomatology, and metabolic abnormalities, but where the precise enzymatic deficit remains unknown or is only suspected.
