In-Situ IR Study During Oscillations of the Catalytic CO Oxidation

Abstract

From earlier investigations it is well known that the oscillations in reaction rate of the CO oxidation on Pt or Pd run parallel with periodic changes of the CO coverage of the metal surface. This could be confirmed by following the periodic changes of the IR absorbance of the chemisorbed CO in an infrared cell with the oscillating reaction in-situ.
