Abstract
For the treatment of urticaria, a vast armamentarium of therapeutic modalities has become available in the past few decades, particularly at the level of pharmacological modulation of the disease. Each of these tools is, however, most effective if it is chosen on the basis of as accurate a diagnosis as possible. Failure of therapy is mostly found among the group of patients for whom the cause of urticaria cannot be properly identified.
