Summary
We measured with contact prints the pressure- and contact areas in the talo-navicular joint under different functions. The plantarflexion just as the pronation were biomechanically the worst positions of the talo-navicular joint. The localisation of the contact area was separated, the pressure action was high and the curve of the acting power was steep. All parameters mentioned mean an exorbitant stress of the talo-navicular joint. The frequency of os naviculare stress fractures of the high jumper, who jumps at extreme position of plantarflexion and pronation, is therefore not astonishing.
