Abstract
Alterations of lipid metabolism are consonant with the uremic state. The data of Bagdade [1] and others have indicated that uremic patients frequently have secondary hyperlipoproteinemia; elevated plasma triglyceride (TG) levels and a modest increase in plasma cholesterol (CHOL) level is the predominant pattern. According to the classification of Frederickson, type IV and to a lesser degree, type II a or II b hyperlipoproteinemia are most frequently observed.
