Abstract
The problems, concerning the spatial dynamics of natural systems, have recently become a matter of great interest to researchers in ecology, medicine (mainly epidemiology) and mathematics. Such phenomena as “patchness” of species number distribution in an ecosystem, or “life waves” (or epidemic waves) spreading over the space, cannot be simulated without application of modern mathematical methods such as those used by the theory of partial differential equations.
