Fluoroaromatic Compounds

Abstract

Toxicity of fluoroaromatic compounds is similar to that of the corresponding non-fluorinated hydrocarbons. Some polyfluoroaromatic compounds are considerably less toxic than their nonfluorinated analogues (e.g. hexafluorobenzene is just slightly toxic), whereas other compounds (e.g. octafluorotoluene and octafluoronaphthalene) are somewhat more toxic. Pentafluorobenzaldehyde is about ten times as toxic as benzaldehyde.
