Abstract

The continuous flow stirred tank reactor (CSTR) offers simple conditions for studying one of the most characteristic features of chemical non-equilibrium systems: bistability [1]. Indeed, such open reactors may exhibit two coexisting stationary states over a range of pumping rates.
