Histology and Cytology Following Stereotactic Needle Biopsy

With the agreement of clinical, mammographic, and cytological findings, the preoperative accuracy of “triple diagnosis” of palpable breast changes is almost 100%. However, clear agreement, i.e., unequivocally benign or malignant findings with all three methods, is observed in about 50% of cases (Table 1). In the remaining patients, the question of histological clarification has to be discussed.
