Abstract
Sonography is a controversial method for the diagnosis of early breast cancer, particularly in doubtful cases. Many investigators question its value altogether. Mammography is undoubtedly the diagnostic method of choice. However, there are many processes that are not amenable to diagnosis at all, or only marginally, unless certain criteria are met. The difficulties of diagnosis are further compounded by palpable lesions not seen on mammograms and nonpalpable lesions that are seen on mammograms.
