Abstract

Since abatement strategies for secondary pollutants must necessarily be based on precursor emission control measures, quantitative correlations have to be established (1) between the ambient concentrations of oxidants and various precursors, and (2) between ambient levels and source strengths of the precursors. Emission control measures can then be taken against hydrocarbons and/or nitrogen oxides, depending on the established correlations.
