Summary

According to the recommandations of Habel (1973 WHO technical reports) and the French Academy of Medecine a study was carried out to evaluate the curative effect of antirabic vaccines.

The usual principles for the appreciation of the antirabic vaccine antigenic value is based on pre-exposure immunization.

The field-work estimation of both efficiency and safety of the vaccine was difficult to realise, due to the number of people to be treated.

Recent publications about post-exposure experiments suggest different mechanisms for pre-exposure immunization and post-exposure treatment.

The Renal Calf Embryo Cell Vaccine (RVF) presents a constant curative effect in mice. Furthermore, this vaccine is particularly interferogenic according to the curative effect noted.
