Zusammenfassung
Unsere Kenntnisse über den natürlichen Verlauf der Ulcus duodeni- und Ulcus ventriculi-Erkrankung sind nach wie vor begrenzt. Es wurde u.a. angenommen, daß Ulzera zunächst spontan ausheilen können und danach wieder auftreten. Dieser Wechsel zwischen Spontanheilung und Rezidiv soll sich über die gesamte (unbekannte) Dauer der Ulkuserkrankung wiederholen. Seit neuerem weiß man jedoch, daß nur ca. 25% der akuten Duodenal-ulzera innerhalb von bis zu 6 Monaten spontan heilen [1], während die Mehrzahl nicht abheilt und sich z.T. erst durch Schmerzen oder Blutung bemerkbar macht. Auch Ulkusrezidive können erst durch diese Komplikationen klinisch manifest werden. Da Komplikationen (Blutung, Perforation) den Patienten vital bedrohen, ist es in jedem Fall erforderlich, ein Ulkus zur Abheilung zu bringen.
