Abstract
The European Stroke Prevention Study started in 1977 in Charing Cross Hospital, London, under the direction of Dr. Clifford Rose. Later on, other centers were included. In total this study now involves: three centers in Belgium, one in Denmark, one in Eire, one in Finland, six in The Netherlands, and four in the United Kingdom (Table 1). The activities of the different centers are correlated by a Coordinating Committee and by a Liaison Officer who visits these centers regularly. In general, meetings are held twice yearly, either by the Coordinating Committee or by the Steering Committee including all directors of the different centers.
