Abstract
At the Science Center Berlin the relation between industrial jobs and CHD has been empirically studied since 1977. Among other things, a retrospective survey was performed on 964 male and female workers in West Berlin. The infarction patients were between 30 and 64 years of age and were all German nationals. They had had their first (and only) myocardial infarction between autumn 1977 and spring 1980. We collected them from hospitals, a rehabilitation clinic and the membership files of the state insurance agency (LVA) in Berlin. The contrast group was also drawn from the membership files of the LVA, using a representative selection scheme based on age and sex.
